Western India Institute of Aeronautics (WIIA), established in 2004 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is a DGCA-approved aviation training institute dedicated to developing skilled professionals for the growing aircraft maintenance and aviation industry in India and abroad. Founded by Dr Nagesh Bhandari with a vision to support India’s aviation self-reliance, WIIA offers a range of aviation courses—including Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) in mechanical and avionics categories, B.Sc (Hons) in Aircraft Maintenance, B.Tech programmes with aerospace options, and vocational courses like cabin crew and travel management—backed by practical, hands-on training on real aircraft, including a Boeing 737-200 on campus. With industry-ready infrastructure, experienced faculty, strong placement support, and strategic partnerships, WIIA focuses on producing competent, job-ready aviation professionals.

Courses
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering B1.1
A DGCA-approved three-year Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program focused on turbine jet engines and aeroplane mechanical systems, where students learn both theory and practical maintenance skills and qualify to obtain a B1.1 AME licence upon completing DGCA modules and training requirements.
Age : Minimum age requirement 16 Years
Eligibility : 10+2 examination passed with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM)
Medical Fitness : Medically fit and doesn't have colour blindness or any other physical disabilities
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering B1.2
A DGCA-approved Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program that focuses on piston-engine aircraft, training students in maintenance, inspection, repair, and troubleshooting of piston engines and related aeroplane systems, emphasising aviation safety, technical documentation, and regulatory compliance.
Minimum age : 16 years.
Education : Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics from a recognised board OR a diploma/higher degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Aeronautical Engineering
Medical Fitness : Medically fit with no colour blindness or other physical disabilities interfering with AME duties.
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering B1.3
A DGCA-approved AME program focused on helicopter turbine engines that trains students in maintenance, repair, inspection, and troubleshooting of helicopter powerplant and mechanical systems, preparing them to become licensed helicopter maintenance engineers.
Minimum age : 18 years.
Education : 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) from a recognised board (prior B1.1 or B2 certification or related diploma is a plus).
Medical : Medically fit with no colour blindness or other physical disabilities that would interfere with course duties.
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering B2
A DGCA-approved Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program focused on avionics systems, training students in the inspection, repair, troubleshooting, and certification of aircraft electrical, instrument, communication, navigation, and electronic systems to prepare them for roles as licensed avionics maintenance engineers.
Minimum age : 16 years.
Education : Passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) from a recognised board OR a diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Aeronautical Engineering.
Medical : Medically fit with no colour blindness or physical disability that would affect maintenance duties.
Drone Training
An advanced 10-day (80-hour) drone training program designed for participants who already have basic drone flying knowledge. The course focuses on advanced flight techniques, aircraft inspection using drones, data collection and analysis, and real-world case studies to build specialized skills in drone operations and inspection missions
Requirement : Basic drone pilot training and familiarity with drone regulations and basic flying skills.
Cabin Crew
A professional cabin crew training program that teaches students the fundamentals of airline passenger service, safety procedures, aircraft types, emergency handling, customer relations, and communication skills to prepare them for roles as flight attendants and related positions in domestic and international airlines.
Minimum age : 17 years.
Education : Passed 10+2 (any discipline) from a recognised board or equivalent.
Medical : Good health, standard eyesight (6/6 or corrected), and no colour blindness or physical disability affecting duties.
Aviation, Hospitality & Travel Management
A certificate course that provides students with foundational knowledge in aviation operations, airport and airline management, hospitality services, travel industry fundamentals, customer service, communication skills, and professional grooming to prepare them for careers in aviation, airports, travel agencies, hotels, and related sectors.
Minimum age : 16 years.
Education : Passed 10+2 (any discipline) from a recognised board/university OR diploma/degree in any stream.
Medical Fitness : Medically fit with no colour blindness or other physical disabilities affecting duties; good communication skills.
