Western India Institute of Aeronautics (WIIA), established in 2004 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is a DGCA-approved aviation training institute dedicated to developing skilled professionals for the growing aircraft maintenance and aviation industry in India and abroad. A DGCA-approved three-year Aircraft Maintenance Engineering program focused on turbine jet engines and aeroplane mechanical systems, where students learn both theory and practical maintenance skills and qualify to obtain a B1.1 AME licence upon completing DGCA modules and training requirements.

What does WIIA's AME course cost?
WIIA's published fee sheet shows a Grand Total of Rs.5,45,000, but that figure excludes the airline maintenance experience listed separately on the same sheet at Rs.75,000 in the first year and Rs.75,000 in the third - Rs.1,50,000 more. The true all-in is Rs.6,95,000, which is the headline figure WIIA prints at the top of the same document. A Rs.1,500 application form fee applies, and Rs.10,000 of the total is a refundable caution deposit.
How is the Rs.5,45,000 broken down?
First instalment at admission Rs.1,95,000 (registration Rs.10,000, admission Rs.30,000, first-semester tuition Rs.70,000, workshop and in-house practical charges Rs.75,000, refundable caution deposit Rs.10,000), then Rs.70,000 per semester for semesters two through six.
What is included at no extra cost?
WIIA states it provides an overall, two uniforms, applets, a wings brooch, safety shoes and a logbook at no cost. Note the fee sheet also states that fees once paid are non-refundable apart from the caution deposit.
Which DGCA categories does WIIA offer?
Four: B1.1 (Aeroplane Turbine), B1.2 (Aeroplane Piston), B1.3 (Helicopter Turbine) and B2 (Avionics). Very few Indian institutes are approved across all four, and B1.2 and B1.3 in particular are uncommon.
How long is the course?
Three years across six semesters.
What is WIIA's relationship with Indus University and IIATE?
WIIA operates from the Indus Campus at Rancharda, and offers B.Tech programmes in association with Indus University. The Indus Institute of Aviation Technology & Engineering (IIATE) delivers its AME programme in association with WIIA - WIIA is the DGCA-approved party in that arrangement. If you are comparing the two, understand you are largely comparing two routes onto the same campus with the same aircraft.
Is the Boeing 737 the same aircraft IIATE advertises?
Yes. The Boeing 737 used for practical training sits on the shared Indus campus. IIATE promotes it as being the first aviation institute in India with a Boeing 737-200 on campus; WIIA trains on the same aircraft.
