Southern College of Engineering & Technology is one of the earliest aviation training institutes in South India, established in 1955 and located in Chalakudy, Thrissur District, Kerala, India. It operates on a 15-acre campus by the Chalakudy River and offers DGCA-approved Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) training under CAR-147 (Basic) to prepare students for DGCA licence examinations with a strong mix of theory and practical exposure. The college provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls and emphasises hands-on workshops, live aircraft training and experienced faculty support to equip learners with the knowledge and skills required for careers in aviation maintenance.
Southern College offers a DGCA-approved Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) programme focused on the Mechanical Stream (Category B1.1 – Aeroplane Turbine) training. The course covers theoretical and practical training in aircraft systems such as airframe, aero engine (jet and piston), structures, maintenance practices, aerodynamics and allied subjects. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for DGCA AME licence examinations and practical maintenance work, with hands-on exposure in workshops and actual aircraft on campus.
