About us
Established in 2007, CAE Gondia, also known as National Flying Training Institute (NFTI) is a joint venture between CAE and the Airport Authority of India (AAI).
CAE Gondia's pilot training programs provide high quality and focused ab initio training to aspiring airline pilots. Our programs combine premier ground school courses with high quality flying instruction delivered in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) standards. Upon successful completion of the program, cadet pilots obtain a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with an Instrument Rating (IR) and a Multi-Engine Rating (ME).
Our training resources include a modern training fleet, advanced flight simulation training devices, well-equipped classrooms, extensive online training materials, and a highly experienced and dedicated instructional staff and academy management team. All residential accommodations, classrooms, cafeteria and administration facilities are newly-built.

Integrated CPL programme
The Integrated CPL programme at CAE Gondia (National Flying Training Institute), a joint venture between CAE and the Airports Authority of India (AAI), is a DGCA- and ICAO-aligned professional pilot training program based at Birsi Airport, Gondia. It combines structured ground instruction with extensive flying training and simulator sessions to prepare cadets to obtain a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) along with Instrument Rating (IR) and Multi-Engine Rating (ME). IndiGo Cadet Pilot Programme
The IndiGo Cadet Pilot Programme with CAE is an airline-aligned integrated pilot training pathway designed in partnership with IndiGo Airlines to take aspiring pilots from ground theory to an airline flying role. It combines structured DGCA ground school, commercial flight training, simulator training, and Airbus A320 type rating into a single programme, training cadets to become Junior First Officers on IndiGo’s fleet. The programme is delivered through CAE’s flight training facilities, such as CAE Gondia (NFTI), with global training elements and industry-standard instruction.

What does the Integrated CPL programme at CAE Gondia cost?
CAE publishes a price of Rs.42,00,000 for the 19-month Integrated CPL programme. That figure excludes accommodation and meals.
Why is it so much more expensive than an AME course?
They are different qualifications and not comparable on price. An AME course trains you to maintain and certify aircraft and typically costs Rs.3,50,000 to Rs.8,50,000. An integrated CPL puts you in the aircraft for 200 hours of flying - 185 hours on the DA40 and 15 hours on the DA42 - and aircraft, fuel and instructor time are what drive the cost. Compare CPL programmes against other CPL programmes.
What licence do I hold at the end?
A Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with an Instrument Rating (IR) and a Multi-Engine Rating (ME), issued against ICAO and DGCA standards.
How long does the programme take?
19 months for the Integrated CPL programme.
What are the entry requirements?
Age 17 to 32; Indian nationality or Overseas Citizenship of India; Physics, Mathematics and English at 10+2 or equivalent with a minimum 55% individually in Physics and Mathematics; a valid DGCA Class 1 medical certificate; written and verbal fluency in English; and good physical condition.
How does selection work?
Two phases. First the CAE Aircrew Selection System (CASS), covering computer-based testing, pilot aptitude and technical reasoning. Then an interview at an Indian CAE training centre.
