The Government Flying Training School (GFTS) at Jakkur, Bangalore, was set up in 1950 and is one of the oldest flying schools in the country. The state-owned flying training school offers tenured programs leading to issue of Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and Private Pilot License (PPL) for aspiring candidates. GFTS is spread over an area of 214 acres which include facilities for flight training (“Training School”), area leased to private parties for hangars and maintenance activities and other common facilities (airstrip, fuel station etc.).
