Courses
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
- Flagship CPL – Multi Engine / Instrument Rating (CPL-ME/IR) including ground school.
- Total training includes 185 hrs flying on single-engine DA40 and 15 hrs on multi-engine DA42 aircraft.
- 450 hours of theoretical knowledge training based on DGCA curriculum.
- Training follows DGCA Civil Aviation Requirements, Series ‘B’, Part IV, with written examinations and DGCA flight checks.
- Approximate course duration: ~18 months.
Age : 16 years on the date of joining the course.
Education : 10+2 with Mathematics and Physics (or equivalent).
Medical : Class I medical certificate from a DGCA-approved examiner
Multi Engine Instrument Rating (ME-IR)
- Enables pilots to operate multi-engine aircraft under instrument flight rules.
- Flight Training: Minimum 11 to 15 hours of flight training on the Diamond DA-42 multi-engine aircraft.
- Course Duration: Approximately 4 weeks.
- The training curriculum covers multi-engine aerodynamics, aircraft systems, checklists, flight procedures, weight & balance, and instrument flying skills.
License Required : Valid SPL or CPL
Medical : DGCA Class 1 Medical Certificate
Aircraft Type Exam : DGCA exam on Diamond DA-42 (Thielert)
Foreign Flight License Conversion (FLC)
- APFT offers DGCA-approved Foreign Flight License Conversion (FLC) programmes for pilots holding foreign licences.
- Conversion is available for single-engine (Diamond DA 40) and multi-engine (Diamond DA 42) aircraft licences.
- Eligible cadets can apply for conversion to an Indian DGCA licence through this programme.
Private Pilot Licence (PPL)
- The PPL course includes 40–50 hours of flying on a Single Engine Piston Diamond DA-40 D aircraft.
- Duration: Approx 6 months of training.
- The course is designed for those who want to learn flying for personal, leisure, or recreation purposes.
- The licence allows the holder to act as Pilot in Command (PIC) of an aircraft for non-commercial use only.
- Training includes ground lectures and computer-based training covering DGCA theoretical subjects required for PPL exams.
Age : 16 years
Education : Passed Class 10 or equivalent from a recognised board.
Medical : DGCA Class II Medical Certificate.
Assistant Flight Instructor Rating (AFIR)
- The Assistant Flight Instructor Rating (AFIR) program prepares CPL-holder pilots to work as assistant flight instructors at training academies.
- The course includes 20 hours of ground briefing classes and 20 hours of patter flying training conducted by a DGCA-approved examiner.
- Total course duration is approximately 8 weeks.
- All flying checks and the final assessment are conducted by DGCA-approved examiners.
Pilot Licence : Valid DGCA Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL).
Ratings : Instrument Rating (IR) and valid Flight Radio Telephone Operator’s Licence (FRTOL/RTR/COP).
Medical : Valid DGCA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
Flight Instructor Rating (FIR)
- FIR includes 40 hours of ground briefing and 40 hours of patter flying training conducted by a DGCA-approved examiner.
- Designed to upgrade Assistant Flight Instructors to full Flight Instructors.
- Approximate course duration: ~8 weeks.
Pilot Licence : Valid DGCA Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL).
Ratings : Instrument Rating (IR), AFIR(A), and valid FRTOL / COP / RTR.
Medical : Valid DGCA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
Type Rating (TR)
- Type Rating involves flight training specific to a particular aircraft type, typically requiring 8 to 11 hours of flying training tailored to individual capability.
- All flying checks and the final flight test are conducted by a DGCA-approved examiner at APFT.
Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) : Must hold a valid DGCA CPL.
Instrument Rating (IR) : Valid IR endorsement required
Radio Licence : Valid FRTOL and COP/RTR documents
Instrument Rating (IR)
- Instrument Rating (IR) equips pilots to operate aircraft under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and handle low-visibility flying conditions.
- The course enhances a Private Pilot Licence (PPL) or Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) by adding specialized instrument flying proficiency.
- Training focuses on aeronautical knowledge and flight proficiency specific to instrument flying as per DGCA standards.
Pilot Licence : Valid DGCA CPL or equivalent licence
Instrument Rating : IR endorsement (if required for advancement).
