Information

Patiala Airport (Patiala Aviation Complex) is a civil aerodrome serving Patiala, Punjab in India. It was built by Maharajadhiraj Bhupinder Singh of Patiala in the first decade of the twentieth century[citation needed] as a place to operate his aircraft. After independence it was taken over by the Government of India and turned into a civil aerodrome.
There are in total five hangers in Patiala Aviation Complex. The First Hanger is used by Patiala Aviation Club (P.A.C.), which is a flying training institute approved by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (D.G.C.A.), India. Raja Kamendra Singh (Prince Ralph) son of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh was Chief Flight Instructor of P.A.C. until his death in an aircraft crash in 1995. Presently Capt. Malkeat Singh is serving as the Chief Flight Instructor of P.A.C.

Patiala Aviation Club was inaugurated by Late S. Partap Singh Kairon the then Chief Minister pf Punjab in the the year 1962 as a Punjab Government Aided Venture. Since its inception, it has produced a large number of commercial pilots.

The club at present has a fleet of five aircrafts, two Cessna 152, two Cessna 172, one multi engine Tecnam PP 2006. These aircrafts are maintained under the supervision of DGCA approved Quality Manager and a team of highly competent and qualified maintenance staff. The club has single engine Cessna 172 glass cockpit simulator for instrument flying ans instrument procedure training, state of the art training aids, a well equipped library and modern class rooms for imparting ground training.
